From Sword to Sidearm: Updating the Apostle’s Arsenal for Modern Ministry

By Rev. Jasper “Lock & Load” Morrow, CrossTalk Contributing Weapons Pastor

In biblical times, a well-placed jawbone was all it took to smite one’s enemies. But we live in a more complicated era — an era of spiritual warfare, liberal coffee shops, and HOA meetings where the Word alone no longer suffices.

That’s why it filled me with the fire of the Holy Ghost (and a touch of muzzle flash) to witness Pastor Mark Barclay receive a gold-plated AR-15 in Wisconsin — complete with Donald Trump’s sacred invocation: “Fight! Fight! Fight!”

Some critics say this blurs the line between pulpit and politics. To them I say: good. That line was drawn by Satan.

This isn’t about violence — it’s about valor. Scripture tells us to put on the full armor of God. So why stop at the breastplate of righteousness when you can accessorize with a titanium bolt carrier group and laser-sight conviction?

Let us modernize our ministry with the tools God would have given the apostles if logistics had allowed.

  • Peter: tactical fisherman’s vest
  • Paul: full-body armor with retractable scroll slot
  • Deborah: suppressor-equipped judgment
  • Jesus: remains unarmed, but now we know that was probably a test

Let us not cast stones — unless they’re ceramic-coated ballistic rounds blessed by our youth pastor during midweek Fire Night™. Amen.
